Huge congratulations to Kylie from Creative Current for designing a beautiful website for the Whakamārama Forest Project, our September 2026 Gold Design Award winner. The site pairs a rich, natural colour palette with striking photography, and together they tell the story of the restoration work volunteers have been doing throughout the Kaimai Mamaku Conservation Park.

The deep, earthy palette matches the kererū in the project’s logo, and those same tones run right through the site, which ties the website together top to bottom. Photo grids, colour blocks and clean text panels keep the layout  visual and engaging without ever feeling busy. The addition of the subtle animated 10 years logo on the homepage is another memorable moment that draws the viewer in.

There’s a real community feel to the site as well, with professional photography of the volunteers themselves front and centre. It’s their work that gets the hero treatment, which feels exactly right for a project that’s been built by volunteers from day one. We love this website from Creative Current and the birds love the Whakamārama Forest Project volunteers!

Congratulations again to Kylie from Creative Current for crafting such a beautiful website for Whakamārama Forest Project.

Congrats to all 7 of our Silver award winning websites! September was packed full of design inspiration!
